Simon H. Bickler

Simon Bickler (PhD) joined Clough & Associates Ltd in 2002. In addition to wide range of archaeological skills, he also has specific skills in database management, GPS/Geographic Information Systems and Website design.

Simon is a New Zealand and American trained archaeologist specialising in pre-European Pacific societies. He received a BSc in Mathematics, a Transitional Certificate (Undergraduate majors in Biological Anthropology and Physics) and a MPhil with First Class Honours in Anthropology from the University of Auckland. Simon's PhD from the University of Virginia was based on the archaeological survey of Woodlark Island, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea. Simon has worked as an archaeologist in Europe, USA, the Middle East and Pacific. In addition, he has spent several years in the Information Technology industry.

Simon combines IT with archaeology including:

  • Simulation
  • Geographic Information Systems
  • Statistical analysis
  • Database and Internet applications,
  • Project management.

Simon is on leave in January-June 2009 as a visiting lecturer at the University of Virginia.
